Each stations of KiK-net has six channels of strong-motion seismograph. The sensors of 1-3 and 4-6 channels are installed at the bottom of the well and on the surface, respectively. We installed the sensors of 1 and 4 channels in the North-South direction and the sensors of 2 and 5 channels in the East-West direction. Because it is difficult to adjust direction of the sensors correctly, there is a slight misalignment in each directions.
The directions of high sensitivity seismograph installed Hi-net and strong-motion sensmograph installed KiK-net are same. You should download the latest list of it from here and utilize it to correct the acceleration data.
*Data Modification of NGSH05 and WKYH08
We noticed that the data of channel 1 and 2 (NS- and EW- component) of two stations (NGSH05 and WKYH08) were mis-labeled. We apologize for this. We modified all records of these two stations and added the comment 'component-corrected' to the 'Memo.' field of header of the K-NET format as shown in the following example. And, of course, the records of these two stations would collect before publication after April 22, 2003.
